In a story that I relate in my book, "Are We There Yet? Adopting and Raising 22 Kids," our oldest daughter Lilly asks me, "How can I know that we can really trust you? What makes you different than all the other families who made promises to us and then let us down?" (p. 144).

This conversation takes place very early in our relationship, we don't really know each ot...

Notes from the Road

Love Beyond Measure

Good morning friends - I wasn't expecting to feature a guest blog again so soon, but sometimes life happens in unexpected ways.  This past week, a dear friend joined the ranks of those of us who, as parents, have had to say good-bye, through death, to a child. The pain is immense and truly, no one should ever have to bury a child.  Yet, while the pain is deep and wide, the love that each child brings into our lives is deeper and wider still and Kim offers a profound reflection on he...

What's Your Legacy?

Posted by Sue Badeau on July 22, 2013 at 7:30 AM Comments comments ()

Last night as I crawled into bed, my entire body ached, especially the knee on my "driving leg."  I arrived home after 11 PM after driving hundreds of miles to return several grandchildren to their homes out-of-state following their annual week in Philadelphia with Nanna and Poppa.  Along the route between their homes and ours, I passed the sites of places, some intact, and some long gone that reminded me of special summer moments with my own family- the "Dog Team Tavern" restaurant...
